Acer Desktop Keeps Restarting

Can I use my Acer recovery disc on a new disk and recover my system operational.

My hard drive is shot! At startup he kept wanting to check the disk for consistency and that the process would go 30 to 45 minutes trying to fix, restore, delete files, then it would flashing a blue screen and then shut down and restart do it again, I can not recover anything from it. Its about 2 years, an Acer Aspire Desktop, just wondering if I need to buy another operating system. Thanks …. all of you out there that help us on a daily basis. You People Rock.

As long as you is using the disk that came with the computer and are only changing a hard drive, you'll be fine. The installer for Windows from the Recovery disks is scheduled to check different pieces of your hardware to make sure that it was made by the same company that supplied the drive. (I / E you can not use a recovery disk HP to install Windows on a drive from Dell). The hard part is not a part of the verification of hardware. Everything else on your computer is exactly the same, so Windows will install. You may have to re-register your copy of Windows once you do this installed, but it only takes a minute or two via the Internet. I had a hard die hard at my age, old Dell laptop for many years. I used exactly the same recovery disc that came with the computer re-install Windows when the drive replacement came
