How do I run 4 monitors off of my Dell 5150 desktop?
I need to run 4 monitors off of my Dell 5150 desktop and have no idea where to begin. Thanks!
According to Dell’s support pages for the Dimension 5150, it says your computer has one open PCIExpress 16x slot: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim5150/en/sm/specs1.htm#wp1052310
If you want to drive four monitors independently from one single PCIExpress 16x video card, I would use one of these video cards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=48&Description=&Type=&N=2010380048+106792522&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&PropertyCodeValue=691%3A37032
Those HD4850X2s have 4 DVI ports, which means you can drive up to 4 monitors independently using one of those cards.
You will need to replace the PSU in your 5150 with a more powerful unit though. Those HD4850X2 video cards suck up 200+ watts of electrical power.
