ATI Radeon HD 5850 hit the streets about a week after his older brother, the HD 5870, shook the market for graphics cards in mid-September. Despite late arrival, HD 5850 is already gaining a reputation as a power of average price and, quite possibly the best value anywhere. Read on to find what's under the hood.
First things first: Any member of the family new ATI 5800 will be something special. After a launch of some delays and much hype, ATI popped the cork on the first line of graphics cards supporting DirectX 11. In fact, the "Evergreen" line of GPU's with the RV870 architecture new development was the first really new to hit the market of graphics cards in a long time, who no doubt struggling to leave the challenge Nvidia with something really new – not rehashed – for the holidays. "TechReport weighs" with the Radeon HD 5850 manages to outshine the fastest single GPU card GeForce overall while costing less, consuming less energy and generates less noise. "
