Dell Desktop Speakers Not Working

How can I "unlock" my desktop speakers?
I have this desktop at work, a Dell, with speakers of the monitor, but they are as 'locked', I can not hear anything for them. What can I do to activate them? Thank you!
1. Speakers test to see if they work. 2. Check the "Windows Audio" service and make sure it is enabled. (Click right my computer> Manage> Services and Applications> Services) 3. Make sure they are connected to the right door (one is for line, microphone in the other, another speaker) 4. If all fails, call the help desk work.
