Learn how to connect two computers using a LAN-LAN cable to transfer files in Windows XP …. ll b marked best answer
i ve inbuilt Broadcom wireless LAN card in Lenovo R61 and 1394 network card, Local Area Network is showing the network connection (Windows XP). I have logged the IP address, default gateway and subnet mask, network, also the primary DNS in the TCP / IP LAN 1394 and network adapter. After connecting my lan cable to another PC Desktop, it starts sending packets as packets sent but didn't get the packets. Now that the configuration of the desktop PC? Should i assigned the IP address, mask, DNS, gateway, clicking on the TCP / IP LAN icon? There is no need to build bridges b / w and LAN network adapter 1394? I've also called my computer and shared drives, but do not get connected to each other. What is the config on my laptop and another PC? I want to learn how to connect two computers using a LAN-LAN cable to transfer files in Windows XP. Someone can guide me and send links to images?
First of all you do not need to configure the network adapter 1394, only the network adapter must be configured with IP. If you are using the laptop to desktop connection, so any network cable (cross or sraight) will work. Configure IP, subnet mask, network (come automatically) in both systems. No need to configure the gateway and DNS in your case. You can take the example below to configure: Laptop: IP Address: 192.0.0.1 mask Subnet: 255.255.255.0 (should come automatically when you enter IP) Press ok, ok Desktop: IP Address: 192.0.0.2 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Now check connectivity by going to cmd prompt: example of laptop c: > ping 192.0.0.2 – press enter you should get response bla bla (means you're set) if you have request timed out, then make sure the firewall feature is turned off (Win XP has default firewall must be disabled) in Then, for example, laptop, go to Start-> Run-type> 192.0.0.2 and press Enter, the window will open with shared folders on the desktop. Sharing folders can be done right -> sharing and security Hope this helps
