compatible portable memory can be used in a desktop?

I saw PC2-5300 DDR2 667 memory used for the sale of portable computers (Apple, Dell, etc.) This can be used on a Gateway desktop, seems to be the same, the memory is memory (I think)

No. PC2-5300 notebook uses 200 pin memory, while PC2-5300 Desktop memory uses 240 pins. In general, any portable storage device can not be used in a desktop. 200-300 systems I bought in recent years, I've never seen a type of memory for both.
