Gateway Dx4200 Computer
Are there any computers that will not let you install XP over Vista?
Hi, I bought a Gateway DX4200 AMD Athlon-desktop UB101A. The seller said that I may not be able to install XP over Vista, and it does not work with many computers today. But I. .. I think he was lying. Can I install XP over Vista on this machine? Thanks for help
I can not think of a computer on Earth, which is capable of running Vista, which does could reduce the size for Windows XP. Some (very few brand-new) cards, scanners or printers may not have XP drivers, so check first. however you can not install "over", which has to be a clean install, I think that in 99.999% of systems. This means that you will be cleaning Hard-drive, to be 100% sure you have all the data stored and installable have copies of all your programs before you do anything. (Unless you are very experienced, you probably lose all the details of your e-mail, etc., to make sure you have them in written form somewhere). Sorry, but it time since I installed XP. When you install you should find an option that is very early in the installation process that allows you to format the disk or delete the existing partition (s) [do not remember exactly what it says or that it's on screen], otherwise it will create a dual operating system (which is a pain in the ass and a waste of disk space).
