Power supply insufficient for the video card, the system turns off randomly?
I bought a Gateway (oops) DX4300-03. He came with a ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB card rated at 400 watts, but the power supply in the machine is only 300 watts. I contacted Gateway support and I have to send them the computer for repairs, but I was wondering if I ask you to give me a better source if it is causing problems? After a few months the system has only to turn off randomly as the light was still in power, but there was no processor instantly fan, display or activity. Could cause the supply underpowered this kind of problem? Perhaps inadvertently fry the motherboard or something? TY for your answers! Cannevercall, Thanks for this response. the problem is not the graphics card, but the TV tuner card. This 300W PSU would be enough without the TV tuner, but it is too weak psu Gateway. did a poor job when you set up this PC. every technician should know that a PC with a quad core processor, dedicated graphics card and TV tuner can not be powered with a 300W PSU. I'd say a 400W or 450W PSU in their costs, is 100% the fault of Gateway. added you can turn off the TV tuner in the device manager, but I do not think This will solve the problem completely (it will still need some power). My suggestion is – TV tuner disable the device manager – shut the PC, then unplug the power cord (there is probably a switch on the back, but remove the cable anyway) – open the PC side and remove the TV tuner card. you probably have to remove 1 screw in the first place, pull the card. playing the only card on the front and back and wrap it in aluminum foil, that is to protect it from static electricity. – Replace the side panel again – to connect the power cord (do not forget the switch) and start the PC, the PC will no longer turn off, you have the ultimate proof that the power is very weak. PS You can also remove the wireless card and analog modem if you do not need them. The procedure is the same as for the TV tuner. the order of extension cards in your PC from top to bottom is 1. video card 2. TV Tuner 3. Wireless Card 4. analog modem
