Gateway Dx4822 Computer
Computer to computer, monitor HDMI?
I have a 23 "LG computer monitor with an HDMI output. I'm trying to connect it via HDMI to my desktop DX4822 Gateway computer with Windows 7. The desktop has an HDMI input, but when they are connected with HDMI the screen goes blank or just shows my desktop background without icons or toolbar. i have the VGA connected at the same time, but when I take the VGA out and just have the HDMI connected to my monitor says searching for signal
If it's just show the desktop background with no icons or toolbar, it sounds to me like your computer is being run in desktop extended, because they think there is another monitor connected to your system. Hopefully you are not connecting this monitor to your computer over a video cable. You are supposed to use a video cable only (only HDMI). If you have connected with a VGA cable too, the computer will think you have two monitors connected and that's what happens.
