Between the two choices you've made, get a Dell! Gateway is garbage, period. I have both brands of property and two years I had to replace a hard drive, DVD drive and a switch on my Gateway. Gateway seems to use cheap, substandard parts and their support is below par. Monday worst computer I had in over 15 years. The worst was the Compaq. Super trash. HP is right there with them both. I had two Dells with absolutely no problem. His performance was good and I can not discuss support as I bought the gold plan for the comparison between the support is not a direct comparison. PS: I am currently using a notebook Toshiba AMD Turion processor and it really cooks. Great processor.
