Why can I not get a GATEWAY P173-XL FX laptop from any retailer in the UK?
I have looked everywhere, and I can not find a site anywhere in the UK that is selling a GATEWAY P173-XL FX, or even the more popular Gateway P-173X FX Edition version (see: http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668158.php ). Only one site looks promising; Tigerdirect.com says they will send it internationally, but when I enter the details it says that “Note: International orders are subject to additional handling charges, higher shipping rates, and applicable customs, duties and taxes, all of which are the responsibility of the customer.” And I dont have a clue what these extra charges will be, and if its worth it. They dont seem to add these charges to the price.
Questions: Why is it so hard to get this laptop in the UK? Are there any disadvantages for UK customers?
Some advise on how to best obtain this laptop in the UK, and what charges I would expect, would be great. Thanks.
It’s obvious that that particular model is not available or intended for the UK market.
Like some makes or models of cars are not sold in the UK. You want them you have to buy them abroad and import them.
And the Note means exactly what it says. As well as paying for the laptop, you are responsible for all the extra charges, shipping, import duty, VAT and other costs incurred.
