When I connect my laptop on all other computers on the wireless router loses its connection.?

So I have a gateway p7807 fx in August for the school. So I get home for Thanksgiving break and turned my computer and tried to get on the internet. I could only connect to the wireless router (without internet) and when I did that all other laptop lost internet connection. So I upgraded to Windows 7 (Vista) hoping that would solve the problem. Now I can stay online, but no one else can. What should I do? Technology Glance. Hey, can I connect to the internet. The problem is when I do the other wireless computers and my Xbox LIVE connected to the router is disconnected.

Follow these steps to resolve the problem: Step 1 Make sure your computer is not too far from your wireless router and you have a good sign. By placing the mouse pointer over the icon for wireless connection, located on the bottom right of the taskbar, you can check to see if the signal is good. Nothing less than a good signal can cause intermittent connections. SOLUTION: You will need to reposition the wireless router closer to your computer. Step 2 If you have a 2.4 GHz phone wireless at home, take note if you lose your Internet connection to make or receive a call. These cordless phones interfere with wireless routers, since both operate at frequencies of 2.4 GHz If this happens, you will have to turn off the router and then connect it again. This will happen occasionally, but not of all time. SOLUTION: (1) upgrade your wireless phone to 5.8GHz, (2) using a wired phone or (3) using an Internet connection by cable to the router. Step 3 If steps 1 and 2 does not resolve your Internet connection, laptop borrowed from a friend with a wireless card and see if your laptop can connect to the internet. Sure to define the settings of your friends wirelessly to the same settings as the wireless card is set to. If your friend's laptop connects to the Internet, then you can have a bad wireless card. Try reconfigure your settings for the wireless card before going out to buy an external wireless card. Step 4 If the computer Your friend's laptop can not connect to the internet, try resetting the router to factory defaults. Changing the settings on the wireless card for the same factory settings on the wireless router. If this works you're back in business. If it does not work for any computer, the wireless part of your router is bad. SOLUTION: When buying a new router or a wired connection to one of the ports of the router.
