Gateway Fx6801
Second drive on Gateway FX6801-03?
Ok, I'm very confused and I'm not sure if I'm being an idiot. I have a Gateway FX6801-03 and I want to work put an extra optical drive in it (specifically a Blu-ray), but when you open the lid to the second optical disc is supposed to sit there metal there. It seems that he is part of the case so, how should I install another unit if the metal is blocking pop out where you need? I feel a little silly, but my last computer with two optical drives that came way so I'm not sure if there is anything I should do to get the metal out? Even if it looks like it can be removed? Here is a picture with both doors open so you can see my DVD drive and what is supposed to be the optic expansion slot underneath. http://www.the-illusion.net/opticaldrives.jpg I'm missing something or not Gateway screw up?
I have the same computer. After reading your post I looked inside my computer. The metal support you 're looking at is a break panel. I took a screwdriver flat nose and inserted it into the top of the table. This created an opening that allowed me to make break with metal panel forward. Opening is now clear and ready for installation of the optical drive of your choice. Hope this helps.
