How long will my computer be good?
My computer is about 2 years old, I have a Gateway GT5656 desktop model number, I upgraded for Windows 7 in November and really love it, it's faster than ever. I'm wondering is how long can I expect it to last and be as fast as it is, I'm ont a player or anything like that and I'm really good at keeping it free of viruses and cleaned up (ccleaner etc.) and see no need to spend the large connector to a newer computer.
If not you will consider applications for OS and program compatibility, you can expect your computer to run a very long time as you do regular maintenance for it, like cleaning hardware (dust, mold, rust, etc.) and defragmentation software cleaning (virus scan, free files, etc..) occasional updates would be required to accompany the endless demand for greater specification applications (upgrading RAM, video card upgrade, etc.) I have a building that has been going strong close to ten years, and have no plans to retire in the near future. It is definitely possible to run win7 if I wanted to upgrade. But again, the time will come that my computer will not be able run future software, which is too slow to run them.
